Kenya Airways appoints new Chief Executive Officer

The national carrier, Kenya Airways appoints new Chief Executive Officer Sebastian Mikosz effective June 1, 2017. Mikosz is a Polish national with many years experience in the airline business management. He is taking over the mantle of Kenya Airways from Mbuvi Ngunze who is expected to stay on beyond June to assist conclude the current ongoing financial restructuring at the airline headquarters in Nairobi.

Sebastian Mikosz helped steering Polish Airlines between 2013 and 2015 from huge loss-making to magical profitability where he worked as chief executive of LOT Polish Airlines. The airline is one of the most highly profitable airlines in Europe today.

In a recent press briefing, Kenya Airways board chairman and former Safaricom CEO, Michael Joseph, said, “I am pleased to officially announce the appointment of Mr. Sebastian Mikosz to the position of Group Managing Director and CEO, Kenya Airways effective June 1, 2017.” He added; “Mikosz has been chief executive of LOT Polish Airlines, one of the oldest world airlines – a position he held twice including an in-depth turnaround of the company leading to its very first positive result in many years.”
